I can tell the number of people who weren't around for the last non-incumbent election. Every major election year the job market does this. It's worse when it's an 8 year cycle. Add into it the uncertainty around Trump and Brexit causing economic worries... it's basically there is less risk, so less VC capital, so less startups. It's a normal cycle.
