- sdegutis 10y agoWhen I was 12, my dad asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told him I really wanted a pet dog. I had no friends and was lonely all the time, so I thought a dog might make me feel less lonely. So he got me Dogz for Windows 95 on CD-ROM. It had the opposite effect.
- moron4hire 10y agoThere is serious academic research that disagrees with your anecdote.
- sdegutis 10y agoOn the other hand, there's serious life experience that disagrees with your argumentum ad verecundiam.

- sdegutis 10y agoI did edit it a little, but only to make it (slightly) more tactful.
- SunShiranui 10y agoIn VR you could meet real people, though - I don't think it's quite the same.
- sdegutis 10y agoRight. I only meant regarding an "escape into an immersive other world that allows them to forget [...] the fact that they are alone."
- 0xdeadbeefbabe 10y agoShould have read White Fang by Jack London instead.
