I see why GB left. Is there any legitimate purpose for ivory besides aesthetic?

  Why do you assume the UK disagrees with this stance? They might have lobbied for it.

    The wider assumption is that the UK will actually leave. The referendum was in no way binding.

    If this is exemplar of the quality of governance in the EU I would not like to be part of it.
