I've tried the Rift DK2 and the Vive Developer Edition. What I've found is that VR just isn't there yet; it's too much of a hassle for there to be a critical mass of consumers willing to purchase a headset. The HMDs are very much alpha tests - if you're into VR, wait for the Vive 2nd generation to come out that hopefully works out the kinks (unless you have a ton of spending money). Haven't seen the Rift CV1 but I know that the Vive, for me, still has the "screen door" effect. Until that goes away I'll always be reminded that I'm in a digital world - after all, I can see the pixels.
