Is it CL only? Because Clojure is pretty convenient for game design when you tie in the LWJGL and friends...
- Tichy 17y agoAlso would like to know if Clojure is allowed.
- magoghm 17y agoIndeed, you can even use JMonkeyEngine from Clojure.
- zephyrfalcon 17y agoI would like to know if Scheme counts as a Lisp, for the purposes of the contest...
- baddox 17y agoHow in the world could it not?
- shaunxcode 17y agoWhile I am not part of the project - based on the fact the wikipedia link just goes to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisp_%28programming_language%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisp_%28programming_language%29 - I would assume that any lisp listed in the "dialects" in the sidebar would be a go? Meaning arc, scheme, clojure etc.
- jcl 17y agoOn the other hand, their wiki is hosted on "The Common Lisp Wiki", all the libraries they mention are exclusively Common Lisp, and their mailing list description says "The purpose of this list is to provide community to Common Lisp game developers." But it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things... The purpose of the thing is to motivate yourself to make a game; there are no winners or prizes or anything. So if you like, you can put your name on the list, and if your finished game is "disqualified" for being in the wrong language, you've still got your game, so you still win.
- dto 17y agoIf you know of Clojure etc resources to add, feel free to edit the wiki page. It's hosted on Cliki but i don't think anyone will mind.
- astine 17y agoIt seems to be part of the CL community that is setting this up so I would assume so. I'd ask on #lispgames though. EDIT: I asked; am waiting for a reply. Will post when (if) I get it. 2nd EDIT: It appears that they haven't decided. I'd go ahead and submit your idea.
- aerique 17y agoAny Lisp is allowed. See: http://www.reddit.com/r/lisp/comments/bfgdt/announcing_the_2010_lisp_game_design_challenge/ http://www.reddit.com/r/lisp/comments/bfgdt/announcing_the_2...
- eru 17y agoI wonder how they deal with corner cases. I imagine, say, Dylan can be seen as more Lispy than newLisp. But--they won't have to optimize for that. They can deal with the common cases.
- zephjc 17y agoA friend of mine wrote this some time ago in Apple Dylan for the Newton 2x00: http://www.sealiecomputing.com/newtglider/ http://www.sealiecomputing.com/newtglider/ I don't think pre-written games would be allowed though :)
- expeditious 17y agoOh great. That's all the Lisp community needs is a hoard of different Lisps competing to see who can write the coolest game using their particular dialect!
