I don't think you need to be a helicopter parent to be somewhat wary of the description of this. There's plenty of value in standardized education and a scoring system. It doesn't need to be so rigid as traditional schools, but some metric, even if very abstract and vague, that helps us identify that there are possibly important gaps in the kids' knowledge is pretty damn useful.
