If you put a microphone in a room full of speakers, with no one to turn down the volume and nothing to switch off the microphone, the white noise will always blow the speakers. Filter bubbles are exactly that. They are the social equivalent of a microphone pointing straight at the speakers. I'll be honest, when I look at Brexit, Trump, and all of the countless loudness that has somehow eclipsed the quiet majority, I don't ask myself "What responsibility do we have to prevent a Trump presidency?", I ask myself, "How much of this is our fault?"
