I have yet to see a claim as to why the jetstream near the tropics moving in a slightly unusual way qualifies as an "emergency". It's not like there's some wall around the equator to suddenly got broken down and all the weather is going to go crazy now. It just doesn't make sense, and they didn't say anything to make it credible.
