Android (Marshmallow) phone with FDE connects to network prior to password input
I have a new Android Marshmallow phone which says it's encrypted (Settings-->Security-->Encryption-->Encrypted) and for which I have set a password. The phone upon reboot proceeds all the way to connection with the cell network (and downloading of SMS and TCP-based messages) prior to requesting my password. This seems to me to be strictly a lock-screen setup. Am I correct?

There is a substantial post-password boot process taking place. This new phone boots ALL the way up, then provides a password input dialog.

- tacomonstrous 10y agoYup. Also, you can keep the services on and turn this setting on after enabling them.
