Is this a joke?

The mention of George Soros is humorous because his famous play on the British Pound [0] was entirely enabled by economic mistakes made by Britain, it wasn't like the Hunt brother fiasco in the Silver market [1] which crossed some questionable ethical lines. Soros made a bet based on his intelligent assessment of the economic realities facing Britain and Britain couldn't afford to spend it's way out of it. If Soros takes billions from the British people again due to the EU exist it will only be enabled by their exit from the EU. - mwfunk 10y agoIt's posted on the Ron Paul Liberty Report, so it comes from a very...specific point of view. They don't shy away from trying to frame vast, complicated events and issues in terms of relatively simple, reductionist narratives full of good and evil, heroes and villains, etc. See also: Greenpeace, PETA, the FSF, and many religions. :( They think it makes them sound more credible rather than less credible, and the sad truth is that this approach works because it plays right into common cognitive biases. I don't think it's dishonest- I think these types of thinkers believe what they're saying, it's just unfortunate. See also "exaggerating the claim to make a point", although that's a form of argumentation that most people realize isn't constructive before they hit 25.
