Please fix title. The article title is "EU referendum: BBC forecasts UK vote to leave". The count hasn't even finished yet, and it is still possible for the remain vote to win at the current time (albeit unlikely).
- smcl 10y agoThe vote has long finished, I'm afraid. They're just counting now
- cpncrunch 10y agoThe count hasn't finished, and the article title on HN doesn't match the title of the BBC article. It's deceptive, implying that the count has finished and the UK has voted to leave Europe. If you look through the comments here you'll see most people have got the wrong end of the stick from the incorrect HN title (presumably they haven't actually read the article).
- xyzzy4 10y agoThere's a higher chance of pigs flying at this point.
- cpncrunch 10y agoThat's not the point. I completely agree with you. The point is that the HN article title is wrong and deceptive, and most HN posters have been misled into thinking the count has finished. Am I the only person on HN who bothered to read the actual article and cares about the facts? It's a bit ironic, don't you think, considering the politics and lack of facts behind this vote?
- GavinMcG 10y ago> The point is that the HN article title is wrong and deceptive Hardly. Britain has voted. The result of the vote is that Britain will leave the EU. The fact that the votes haven't been counted to 100% doesn't make that fact any less the case. Statistics work.
- cpncrunch 10y agoYou're stating a statistical prediction as a fact. If you're happy doing that then so be it...
- shock-value 10y agoI think everyone in this thread is fine with it.
- fdsaaf 10y agoWhen you read a sector from your hard drive and expect to get back what you wrote, you're citing a statistical prediction as fact.
- iainmerrick 10y agoThe current title of the actual article is "EU referendum: UK votes to leave in historic referendum". It's still technically a forecast, but the BBC has called it and so has everybody else.
- cpncrunch 10y agoThe count has finished now. My comment was referring to before the count had finished, and the BBC title of the actual article was "BBC forecast: UK votes to leave EU".
