What is never clear in these convoluted conspiracies is why the United "yes we'll go to war with Irak with you US" Kingdom would not extradite Assange so that it would be necessary to ask Sweden to do it.
- reitanqild 10y agoI heard it was because he was a (high-profile) British citizen.
- peteretep 10y agoWhat difference do you think that would make?
- reitanqild 10y agoThere would supposedly (IIRC) be certain rules against allowing the extradition of citizens of the commonwealth?
- bArray 10y agoNot sure if Assange is a UK citizen, but if so they probably reserve the right to revoke citizenship anyway.
- ascorbic 10y agoHe's Australian.
- reitanqild 10y agoI though Australians were British. Seems I am wrong though. Anyone care to enlighten me?
- _acme 10y agoSimple: Australians are not citizens of the United Kingdom. Neither are Canadians, French or Germans. What additional enlightenment is necessary?
- reitanqild 10y agoThat was enough : )
- bArray 10y agoIt's like what one of the other comments say, the embassies are effectively extensions to Countries. Extraditing a guest of Ecuador may be considered an act of war and could set off a chain reaction for other embassies around the world.
