I disagree with the original premise that video is superior also, but Facebook is very calculated in their endeavors. They could be: - feature-chasing Periscope/Vine/Snapchat/Meerkat/Twitch/Youtube - enticed by pre-roll ads - planning future Oculus integration, live VR streaming, etc.
