- theodoredziuba 10y agoHe sounds envious, not jealous. Jealousy is the fear that someone else will take what you have. Envy is when you want what someone else has.
- guessmyname 10y agoReminds me of that scene from The Simpsons [1]. [1] https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+simpsons+jealousy+and+envy https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+simpsons+je...
- SixSigma 10y agoI think you'll find that jealousy is now synonymous with envy as well as its previous meaning, which is derived not proscribed.
- twoarrays 10y agoWorst ad hominem in a long time. http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html
- 2array 10y agoThere's no need for an ad hominem http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html
- jondubois 10y agoYou're right. I'm quite envious/jealous. I would love to have been a Yahoo acquisition target during that period. Regarding my previous work, I've contributed to many open source projects related to realtime systems. I also wrote my own popular open source project http://socketcluster.io/ http://socketcluster.io/ and built a community around it. Right now, I'm working on getting it to run on any Kubernetes infrastructure (inside Docker containers) to allow it to be deployed and scaled automatically across distributed clusters of machines. Then we will offer a managed service around it. Marissa, if you're reading this, please acquire my open source project (and my team of core collaborators too). We're cashflow positive. Our annual profit is an incredible +$00,000,000.
- codecamper 10y agoHey, sorry... I wasn't trying to be mean. I'm envious too! And to be honest... quite bummed as I'm again too late (no more Yahoo buyouts?) coming up with something that might get acquired.
