It always amaze me, how companies at London resist remote work. I did returned back to Czech republic (want to be closer to family as I am having kids now) and jobs, once plenty, dried out very quickly, even when I am willing to commute to London biweekly and even willing to spend extended time there.
- robmcm 10y agoI assume it's because they could get a local developer in Eastern Europe, India or South America for a fraction of the London price. You want to have your cake and eat it ;) I work with people who commute from Europe 3/4 days a week, but then they have to factor in plane tickets, a small flat or room etc
- dejv 10y agoI don't think it is about the price, maybe it is about the contractor market I was in, who knows. I don't really mind, there are tons of opportunities around. There are tons of companies willing to hire people remote all around EU, UK and US and the pay is basically same like London, not even factoring the living costs.
