What's the deal with favorites and likes of Tweets without even reading?

Take this tweet for example: https://twitter.com/VisualStudio/status/742899436523802625 It has received 5 retweets and 8 likes at the time of this writing (yes, I was the one who replied to them there). Clicking the link gets to a 404 (not found) page. Do the people who liked and favorited really click the link? probably not. So why doing it? to draw someone's attention at Microsoft?
