Did you look at the pings it was sending to its stats servers? It's not malware, some evil assholes actually created this VPAID concept with its players, trackers, and garbage performance.
- jkot 10y agoIf it quacks like a duck...
- archon810 10y agoThis logic doesn't make sense. If an advertiser willingly pings itself to a ridiculous degree does not mean it's a conspiracy to bring a server (its own?) down.
- jkot 10y agoIf something hijacks your computer and uses excesive resources, you should assume it has hostile intentions. It is not your job to inspect packet to find out what is going on.
- lmm 10y agoIt is worth distinguishing between actual malice and mere incompetence, and handling them differently.
