StackOverflowException. Call heap size exceeded.
- Illniyar 10y agoMaybe the new checked C can protect against infinite loops too ;)
- kbart 10y agoWhy? Infinite loops in C are by design and have many uses: threads waiting for signals, polling, events processing etc.
- patresi 10y agoIt's a joke :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halting_problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halting_problem
- kbart 10y agoHeh, need to relax a little then. Anyway, I've heard this complain too many times from inexperienced "programmers" ("Why my program doesn't quit?"), so the truth is not far fetched..
- JD557 10y agoActually, Microsoft Research has another project to prove program termination: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/t2/ http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/t2/ Obviously this cannot work on all programs, but it's nice that they tried to do their best.
- markokrajnc 10y agoThis is a joke... but in reality there are MANY cases where programming language can prevent errors at compile time with no or minimal costs and this could be added to standard C...
