There is certainly an auth mechanism on my credit card. After entering my CC details I will be redirected to a page at my bank. I have a little device from my bank in which I insert my CC and enter it's pin, I then have to use it to scan a QR-like code from the screen, the device then shows me the payment details and asks me to confirm after which it shows a code I have to enter into the website to approve the payment. When using it in stores I also need to enter a PIN.
