As far as I can tell, the largest single cost in producing a movie is still the cast.
However, I agree with the general idea of this thread, that the cost of production is the driving force causing studios studios to play it extra safe, and make crappy movies that they think will be broadly appealing, because each one is such a gamble.
- pessimizer 10y agoBut the justification of the money that goes to the cast is marketing. You get a star to sell a particular movie.
