I'm pretty sure using someones mental illness to play psychological "tricks" on them isn't a prank. I'd call it abusive.

- oolongCat 10y agoAnd some people don't just care. Look at some of the "pranks"(aka "social experiments") on youtube these days. Makes you wonder what type of things are going through the minds of these so called pranksters.
- tluyben2 10y agoI was going to say that here. That could be reason for jailtime as far as i'm concerned; I have two friends with serious mental illnesses (developed around 18 using recreational drugs); if you would 'prank' them you would endanger them and people around them. It's a nasty thing.
- wpietri 10y agoDefinitely. My family is big on jokes and and pranks. But the right spirit is "let's have fun together". Without that, I think it is just abuse.
- tomjen3 10y agoMaybe, but is that going to stop fourchan?
- Kristine1975 10y agoI would say that depends. 4chan's technology board /g/ for example seems to respect Terry A. Davis, who has schizophrenia, for his TempleOS. On the other hand, transgendered people are often considered to be mentally ill by the politics board /pol/ and bashed mercilessly. P.S: Terry also has an account here on HN.
- GFK_of_xmaspast 10y agoYeah but like 4chan, Terry Davis is super-racist.
- nommm-nommm 10y agoI think Terry's posts fit right in at 4chan.
