I'm not sure what you're point is. The fact that Photoshop and Elements both sell well enough to continue their development kind of proves the point. If removing knobs didn't work, Elements would have failed. And in fact, there's a level in between - LightRoom which removes a lot of the functionality (knobs) of Photoshop, but keeps several bits important mainly to photographers. There are some users for whom the knobs work, but not for everyone.
