Google Maps is magical, but it isn't magical when you can't view uncached tiles or search for things when your connection is offline. A downloadable map application that you could purchase and view and search entirely offline would be even more magical.
- prewett 10y agoSeeing as how Open Street Map's complete dataset is 40 GB compressed (and that probably doesn't have all the businesses, addresses, keywords, etc. of Google Maps), there's a pretty good reason why you can't search it offline. Not to mention, why would Google give away all their data on every install. But, you are partially in luck. Google Maps now allows you to download up to 120,000 sq. km. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838?hl=en https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838?hl=en
