- whamlastxmas 10y agoMonica is the person who left Silicon Valley to go live somewhere decent and to do something more personally meaningful with her life. We just haven't seen her do that in the show, yet. Kind hearted people like her are non-existent in an industry like that.

THAT'S RIGHT - ME. Never met Mark Cuban, is he really anything like that?
- whamlastxmas 10y agoMark Cuban has a lot of personality similarities to Russ, but Mark is definitely a lot more intelligent and self aware than Russ is.

- whamlastxmas 10y agoI'm not sure how that makes sense. Laurie Bream is a direct character replacement after the actor Christopher Welch passed away. The character barely changed at all. If MM was an inspiration, it must have been on a very subtle level, or possibly only in finding the right look of the actor to play Laurie Bream.

- zw123456 10y agoWhat about Gilfoyle ? He is my favorite, I guess because I am an engineer and also I guess a NBA (Natural Born Asshole) so I can relate. Maybe he is just your typical NBA Engineer ? Not any particular well known person.
- bobsil1 10y agoProbably Martin Starr's personality + libertarian engineer. The core cast are less parodies than fleshed out characters you're supposed to root for.

- trhway 10y agoi would think that Russ Hanneman = Sean Parker. Radio On Internet (almost direct reference to Napster, ie. music on Internet) plus "cool" 3 comma drive, and secondary things like age and appearance.
