Yes, so did I, and coming from Google Research I was expecting it to use an obscure deep learning algorithm that was known for years but nobody had taken the time to optimize for GPUs. Still it was and interesting read, with few technical details, but just enough. Lately I'd been looking into stabilization with OpenCV and this seems like a fun "let's re do it" project.
