I don't think they get much more in ad revenue because of chrome cast, if I want to watch something I'd watch it on my mobile or PC, casting to the TV is just more comfortable, it's not an enabler to something that wasn't watchable. Moreover chrome cast is used outside of google products like Plex, Netflix, HBO etc. Having a low bar for entry into the home is huge for a company which is all about data and insights.
