Can anyone point to a comprehensive set of good XMPP clients for different platforms? It looks like Conversations is pretty solid for Android. What is there for Linux desktop? Terminal? I know about Pidgin and related ilk - where can I find which XEPs it supports?
- subway 10y agohttps://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/SupportedXEPs https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/SupportedXEPs might be a good start.
- SamWhited 10y agoPlease don't recommend Pidgin; Pidgin is the IE6 of the chat world… it's terrible, it holds back the rest of the world, and it just won't die (although I know this was in response to the question; just sayin')
- prajjwal 10y agoI know, right? They've been working on their v3 release for centuries now, but it looks like it's another few centuries away. It's a shame, because it's a really good client. I just wish development was faster.
- subway 10y agoI wasn't making any recommendation, just directly addressing parent's question of where to find XEPs supported by "Pidgin and related ilk"
- detaro 10y agoSo what desktop client (Win/Linux) do you recommend instead? (I use pidgin, but mostly because that's what I've always used, it has quite a few weaknesses)
- Zash 10y agoYou could try http://swift.im/ http://swift.im/
- catern 10y agogajim is the best graphical client for the Linux desktop. mcabber and profanity are both excellent terminal clients (I use mcabber). GNOME Empathy is also a decent client if you use the GNOME desktop.
