I don't think anyone loved their employer that much. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll assume there was lots of eye rolling on both sides as their leaders rallied them all around the idea of trading users cat pictures for their ad impressions. Your salary/equity/etc. vs. your value on your personal life either make overtime worth it or not.
