That is so interesting. I wonder if there is a way you could model that over time / give a rating. You could have a large list or controversial words (prob better would be doing NLP phrases) and look at all content of a site has over time, and get a count of how much "controversial content" it contains. To get the list of what is controversial you could look at the content guidelines from top sites around the world and compile a list.
