If you go with what you believe you risk having others say things like "you just haven't applied yourself" to you, and they will forever remind you to go back to school and hold it against you when you don't. It's really a world view issue. Honestly, hacker news is not the best forum to ask about this. For the most part the answers here will be one sided. One thing to consider is the debt you will accumulate. You also don't want those around you to be unhappy. Tough deal right? My hope for humanity and the human condition has actually diminished in recent years, despite a lingering optimism for well into the future. It's just been pushed a little further along, I suppose, by a generation or two.
