What about the financial CEOs who, after the US government rescued their firms with bailout, prompty paid themselves multimillion dollar bonuses with the bailout money? I think people change during the course of their life. While greed will not probably motivate you enough to rise to the top (you need other drivers such as ambition), if you've already made it to the top (and there's nowhere else to go, you're already #1 by your own metrics), you can slowly morph into a greedy bastard.
