I think these numbers are always suspect, and they never match what I see across any of my blogs and websites. The vast majority of search traffic to my websites is from Google to this day.
Here's the numbers for one of them in the last month:
* google (organic) 5,552 73.52%
* yahoo (organic) 872 11.55%
* (direct) ((none)) 618 8.09%
* bing (organic) 200 2.65%
- Uchikoma 17y agoI also see different numbers, GA says for my blog: google 97.56% bing 1.52% yahoo 0.50%
- whatusername 17y agoG: 1122 Y: 21 Bing: 1 On what is a non tech site (although the audience probably skews somewhat in that direction). But as has been mentioned, one site is not the whole internet.
- tomerico 17y agoYour site's demographic might not represent bing's demographic. In any case, a more meaningful data could be the trend of the data - is bing heading up or down in your site?
- python123 17y agoClearly your website stats paint a clearer picture of what's going on than the combined stats of many websites.
- InclinedPlane 17y agoWhat are your user agent stats? I bet they skew heavily toward Firefox, Chrome, and Safari with IE a minority. Tech sites attract tech audiences, and techs tend to favor more modern browsers and google. Your stats say nothing about the popularity of Bing amongst the general internet using populace.
- dangrossman 17y agoThere is a big difference between [traffic to the search engine's domain], [searches done on a search engine], and [traffic the search engine sends to other websites]. These are 3 different metrics. You can't extrapolate backwards from a website's referrers to gain knowledge of the first two metrics. It's easily explained by either searchers having to do more searches on Bing to find a page they want to click, or Bing presenting more information within their own site so that the searcher doesn't have to click away. If either of those rates is higher than Google, then Bing can have higher search share than it will have referral share among other websites.
