“Move somewhere less expensive” (= rural) is terrible advice, and I’m not sure how it gets bandied about so much. Ignoring the often prohibitive costs of moving itself and possibly needing to buy a car for local transport, for example, the last thing an unemployed person needs to do is move away from the available jobs.
