- walesmd 17y agoDid a stint at FSU but I was too immature and irresponsible to follow through with it, pissed a 200% scholarship down the drain. Enlisted in the USAF, grew up a bit and attempted University of Phoenix Online (a joke), American Military University (part of the American Public University System, another joke), gave up on online school for a bit. After separating I gave Troy University a try (their entire CS department is online) but they use Blackboard and I've grown to hate Blackboard. I'll be giving Franklin University a try in the next few months - their interface is appealing, the program looks solid and they've received solid reviews. I really enjoyed my little time at FSU - it seemed as if I was really learning something and I loved the "feel" of being on campus, hanging out between classes in breezeways with other students - it just felt like happy (if that makes any sense). A lot has changed in the last 8 years though, family/life/work and going full-time on-campus just isn't feasible any longer. The majority of online schools disappoint me because the average student is a complete idiot with no concern for spelling/grammar. I guess I'm a unique target for the online schools, since I actually want to learn something - not just earn a piece of paper.

- dannytatom 17y agoNowhere, too poor for that jazz. Edit: My skill set reflects that, though. ;)
- WesleyJohnson 17y agoNowhere as well. Had I wanted to go I surely would've been held back by finances, but I didn't shy away from College because of that - I just hated school. Actually, I dropped out my Junior year of High School with 3 months to go. I spent the time plus the summer working for my mom and decided to re-enroll Senior year. Even after going back on my accord, I still barely earned the 10 credits I needed my final year to graduate. I teeter back and forth on whether I regret it or not to this day.
- rbrcurtis 17y agoThis mindset always strikes me as questionable. I am a pretty middle class guy but I funded my entire undergrad with government student loans without problems and I don't understand why low income people can't do the same.
- dannytatom 17y agoWell, short version, I couldn't get government help 'cause my family is considered upper middle class and I'm not yet independent, plus my grades sucked too hard for grants. Whatever other ways there were I was too lazy to look into. I do plan on trying again when I turn 23, though.
