Anecdata: I am far, far, far more mentally lazy as a consequence of Google and modern toolchains than I was with EDLIN, MASM, and the Purple 8086 Book. In terms of raw productivity, sure, I produce more. But personal satisfaction and self-esteem is far lower, and nostalgia and ennui are high.
