I feel as if you've missed the point of the article. Yes, the kettle corn example doesn't compare in scale, but he's simply trying to show the difference in philosophy. No one's saying that screwing up kettle corn is the pinnacle of innovation and experimentation. I don't see how father's story discredits the article.
