A perspective from Scandinavia; this sounds absurd and unequal. It's rare for anyone not to have a prenup here. The law also treats both genders equally in divorce (most recently, fathers' rights to their children were improved). I don't really understand why anyone would even get married in California with laws like that, it sounds like a bad deal, for both you and the relationship.
