What happened was that power gave fairness and justice a chance.
- michaelmrose 10y agoThe penalty was bizarrely sized considering the damages suffered. Companies regularly suffer less hurt from killing people.

- GrumpyYoungMan 10y agoThe penalty was chosen after the defense did nearly everything possible to sabotage their own case and paint themselves in an unsympathetic light. It's rather telling that the jury awarded damages in excess of what the plaintiff asked for.
