I used lambda to implement a loader from s3 to redshift. Serverless context and the ability to be triggered on event (i.e. on s3 file creation) are great but I found same problems described in the article. I can suggest to give it a try to tj project apex.run, it saved me a lot of time. Also error and debugging are difficult but remember there is an ec2 instance at the end behind lambda. I just mocked the lambda function and debugged on a real server.
