But we are giving them free lunches and education. The poor get lots of subsidies in the US. I ideally would like a basic income, but it currently isn't affordable.
- hackuser 10y agoI disagree; it is affordable. Again, the richest nation in the history of the world, by a long shot.
- Houshalter 10y agoI remember someone did a calculation of how much basic income we could have if we taxed corporate profits at 100%. And it would be like $6000 person. Which is not that much.
- flubert 10y agoI can't help but think of: "...takes an accepted moral principle, adopts it as its own, and then accuses mainstream society of violating that principle."
