IMO there's nothing wrong or broken with Twitter, we just have a culture of criticism that exaggerates legitimate flaws and trends. But I will say that bots are becoming pretty damaging to the community. Bots that auto-favorite and auto-follow (only to undo those actions days later) in order to gain followers--call it astro-engagement--has created a situation where Twitter in some respect is a social network for bots.
