I wouldn't go so far as to say people like ads. They tolerate them and are influenced by them, yes, but like? That's taking it to a bit of an extreme. For my case, even though I'm defending these advertisements, I think they are poison. When possible, I pay to get service that lacks ads. If I could pay Google $100 per year to not show me any Adsense or Adwords ads, for example, I probably would.
