They didn't eliminate the need. To get my IP from there programmatically, I'd have to parse the DOM. Or, I can "curl https://i.ngx.cc" https://i.ngx.cc", and have it immediately available.
- nitrogen 10y agoJust make sure your scripts won't fail if the site claims your IP is "$(rm -rf /)".
