Ugh. I wish this myth would go away. I've encountered so many people that have heard of this and have no idea how credible it is.
- Tichy 17y agoIf you have no idea, why do you call it a myth? Sounds as if you have the idea that it is only a myth.
- Confusion 17y agoHe meant that the 'people that have heard this' have no idea. I'm not sure whether his sentence can be properly interpreted as such, but even if it's grammatically dubious, the intention is clear (to me). He probably knows that the effect is vastly overstated in popular accounts, as other commenters have pointed out.
