I'm a developer and I like open offices. Sure, you have to be careful of your neighbors and don't interrupt them consistently. But, unless your coworkers are complete douches, this is pretty much easy to do. I like to answer questions, technical or not, and it's really nice to be able to exchange ideas with someone (who was lurking on slack, anyway), from times to times.
