If you mindlessly copy code and it works, even once, without really understanding (e.g. could you teach the pattern/trick/concept/etc to a teammate?) you are a bad developer. All things being equal, if you are a great Googler (or doc reader, or whiteboard question asker) that is an aspect of being a strong dev.
