I would be hard pressed to call securing containers, virtualization and cloud a niche, since that is exactly what SmartOS has been designed for, from the ground up. A large part of generating revenue is not having downtime caused by data corruption incidents or security breaches (or both), which means picking and using a substrate which provides guards against that.
