I can attest to the other side of that. My 2000 Cavalier was totalled after I rear ended someone at < 20 MPH. Apparently all of the impact went straight into the radiator. However, in my subsequent two cars I was rear ended and in both cases, while the cars were pretty ugly, they were driveable.
