Why can't these be webapps? Are there any advantages in making these as native iPad apps?
- maxklein 17y agoBecause a website is inconvenient and user unfriendly compared to a native app on the iPhone or iPad.
- cj 17y agoNot everyone lives at their computer. It's more convienent to tap in what you eat at the kitchen table with the iPad rather than walk to a computer.
- icey 17y agoHTML 5 is supported on the iPad, you can install an application that looks pretty native (including local storage) that doesn't have to go through the crazy Apple approval process. Neven Mrgan made a game in HTML5 that illustrates how well this works: http://mrgan.tumblr.com/post/257187093/pie-guy http://mrgan.tumblr.com/post/257187093/pie-guy
- tomjen2 17y agoThat was my assumption too. But the HTML5 that runs on the IPods/IPhones and properly also the iPads are really, really powerful. Powerful enough that they can run as stand-alone programs with local storage (in the form of an sql-lite database), web sockets, etc. You could easily have a local app that was also a webapp.
