  How do you handle the situation when device gets lost or stop functioning?

      For iOS devices, iCloud syncs everything. There is no similar alternative for Android devices. Google Play syncs some: Contacts, Apps and Gmail etc. But to sync app data, other files and folders, Google play doesn't have a copy. And are lost with the device.

        Actually, with Marshmallow, Android apps can now backup themselves just like iOS ones.
